Your entertainment choices in the Upper Valley this weekend begin with Elvis. (I'll bet that has you all shook up.)
That's Elvis as in Gerald Donatelli of Claremont, who will take the stage Saturday night in Hanover as part of a fundraiser for the Outreach House, a senior residence. The show begins at 7:30, and ticket prices range from $25 for adults to $10 for teens.
So, yes, Elvis. And he's far from your only local entertainment choice this weekend.
Tonight you could enjoy a contradance at the Tunbridge Town Hall, the rock band Without Paris at Salt hill Pub in Lebanon, rocker Carlos Ocasio at Salt hill Newport, Sensible Shoes at the Skunk Hollow Tavern, Tad Davis at Fire Stones in Quechee, jazz and blues from Cynthia Barrett and Ed Eastridge at the Canoe Club in Hanover, singer/guitarist Kelly Ravin at the Coffee House in Sunapee, Second Wind at Carmella's in Claremont and singer/songwriter Dave Clark at Shepard's Pie on the Green in Quechee.
Saturday night? Glad you asked.
In White River Junction, your annual Christmas Tree/Holiday Bush Burn festivities include an appearance by the ukelele band Over the Cardboard Sea. Northern Spy is playing at a contradance at Tracy Hall in Norwich. Pianist and singer Alan Hartford performs at the Canoe Club.
What's more, you can catch "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" Friday, Saturday or Sunday at the Northern Stage in WRJ.
By now, you're probably wondering this: How does Mark know all this?
Because Warren Johnston told me, that's how. Warren details your entertainment choices in the Close-Up section of the Valley News every Thursday. That section is packed with entertainment ads, too, as well as the calendar of community events that runs every day in the paper.
So make a note: Next week, cut out the middle man (me) and check out the Thursday paper.
