This improbable wintry photograph of Lake Morey (her subjects aren't walking on water, but on ice) by Catherine Burt is the winner in this year's Valley News amateur photography contest.

Burt's photograph was one of 24 finalists posted at the Valley News booth at the HomeLife trade show in Hanover. Nearly 900 visitors to the show voted for their favorite, and Burt's image was the winner.
