“My parents always told me I wouldn’t amount to anything because I procrastinated so much. I told them, ‘Just you wait.’” – comedian Judy Tenuta
SPRING CLEANING AWAY TOLERATIONS –
How many times have you sat at your desk and thought "I really need to get this thing cleared off?" Or, wasted gobs of time because (once again) you can’t find important papers because your files need to be cleaned up? We all have little (and big!) nagging things that need to be handled in order to restore our peace-of-mind and energy. So, in an effort to provide you with a little inspiration", here’s an idea I use with my clients from life coach and author Cheryl Richardson. I’ve been using this for years to help me clear away Tolerations. Create a "Clean Up Day for yourself.
Here are some ideas to get you started:
Update your resume
Re-Connect with former business colleagues
Clean up your to-do list
Pay your overdue bills
Clear out a closet
Apologize to someone you may have hurt
Clean out your car
Clear out the winter coats/boots from the hall closet
Have a conversation you've been avoiding
Get the oil changed in your car
Here's how to do it: Make a list of five things you need to clean up. Choose one right now and do it. Then, each morning this week, choose another item on your list and finish it by the end of the day. Limit yourself to one item per day so you'll stay motivated. Have fun cleaning up! And then reward yourself and celebrate because you just created a new toleration free zone for yourself.
Are you ready to give up your excuses and rationalizations, so you can start living a life that you love? Whether it’s about a job search, self improvement, an important career decision or home improvement, one thing for sure we’ll feel better about ourselves and create positive momentum when we face our tendency to procrastinate and tolerate excuses.
