Tips for a Successful Job Search in a Tight Economy.

The first tip, which is critical in ANY endeavour, is to manage your mindset!

Henry Ford said, “Whether you think you can, or think you can’t, you’re right.”

You create your own reality based on the words you use to describe things. If you say, “This economy is a mess, and I’ll never find a job,” you’ll likely create that reality for yourself. If you say, “This economy is challenging, and I’m going to look for ways to create opportunities and solve problems in the midst of it,” you’ll likely create that as well.

If you are thinking of making a career move, ask yourself: Where are you on this scale? … How is that mindset impacting your search?

Managing Your Mindset Scale
1 = I hate my circumstances and am angry. No good will come of this.
5 = I recognize that challenges are a constant part of life and am learning to let go of the things I cannot control.
10 = I thrive on challenges and love pushing myself past self-imposed “comfort zones.” This will work out for the best.

Now…Imagine it’s a year from now and you’re looking back on a successful transition. What do you want to be proud of in terms of how you responded to this challenge?
